This photomicrograph of a thin film human blood smear, extracted from a patient with a malarial infection, revealed the presence of a young, growing, Plasmodium ovale trophozoite (center), which displayed two chromatin dots, and was stippled with Schüffner's dots. Platelets and debris were also present in this field of view.
