Captured in 1967, this image depicted what was a pile of roadside debris, which appeared to have been placed curbside in the aftermath of an eviction. The photograph was taken during an Aedes aegypti mosquito population investigation that took place in the city of Houston, Texas. Note that this debris pile provided numerous opportunities for water to collect, in turn, creating ideal microenvironments for mosquitoes to breed, and heartily multiply.
