Photographed in a clinical setting, this patient presented with what is known as a rectal prolapse. Here you can see the rectal mucosa protruding outwardly from the anorectal sphincter. This was classified a full-thickness type of rectal prolapse, for it involved the protrusion of all the layers of the rectum from the anus.
