Caption:
This is a photomicrograph of a small bowel tissue sample, which had been extracted from a patient one year after having recovered from an acute case of cholera. Histopathologic findings exhibited here, included an intact mucosal epithelium, an acute inflammatory response, and findings indicative of this patient’s malabsorption symptoms. In general, the finding of malabsorption is common, and was therefore, classified as non-specific.
