This 1966 image, captured during what was labeled a tissue workup procedure, depicted the hands of a laboratory technician holding a test tube, into which a graduated pipette had been placed, in order to extract the tube’s contents. Note that the tech had donned a pair of gloves, as part of his repertoire of personal protective equipment (PPE).
