This 1962 image depicts a Teheran, Iran man, who displayed a classic maculopapular smallpox rash dispersed over his face torso, and upper extremities. These lesions would eventually form scabs that would fall off leaving marks on the skin. The patient would be contagious to others, until all of the scabs had fallen off.
