Under a magnification of 1150X, this photomicrograph of a trichrome-stained specimen, depicted an immature, Entamoeba histolytica cyst. In this focal plane, four chromatid bodies were clearly visible, as well as a single, clearly circumscribed nucleus, with its centrally located karyosome, and peripherally situated chromatin. Mature E. histolytica cysts contain four nuclei.
