This photograph depicted Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) staff member, Yoshinori, using the global positioning system (GPS) receiver in his computer tablet, to navigate, and record additional geographic information, for parts of the Kambia District, in the West African country of Sierra Leone. Later in the evening, Yoshinori would send these GPS files to colleagues in Atlanta, Georgia, where the data would then be entered into the computer program known as OpenStreetMap, and thereafter, be shared with other partners and stakeholders, involved in the country’s Ebola response efforts.
