Captured during Uganda’s July - August, 2012, Ebola outbreak, this image depicts former ABC Chief Health and Medical editor, and former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director, Dr. Richard Besser, on the left, and CDC Deputy Branch Chief of the Viral Special Pathogens Branch, and Director of World Health Organization’s (WHO) Collaborative Center for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers, Dr. Pierre Rollin. The two epidemiologists were discussing the history of filovirus outbreaks in Africa, which included previous Ebola outbreaks (see PHIL 19964).
