Taken during a 2012 schistosomiasis outbreak, this image depicted Zimbabwean Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) resident, Dr. Pugie Chimberengwa (white shirt), assisted by Mrs. Frozina Ndlovu (left), a nurse’s aide from the Empandeni rural health center, as they were conducting a mass drug administration (MDA) exercise of the anthelmintic medication, praziquantel (PZQ), among school pupils in a classroom at Kwite Primary School. This MDA was performed here, on these 242-pupils, at the start of this schistosomiasis outbreak investigation, however, 45-pupils and dropouts, who had missed this prophylactic dose, were dosed during a culture day celebration at the school, in the Mangwe district, located in the South province of Matebeleland, Zimbabwe, which was depicted in PHIL 19863.
