Captured in January, 2013, this image depicts Nigerian Field Epidemiology Training Program (NFETP) resident, Dr. Binta Bako Sule, as she was in the process of vaccinating a previously-missed child in the Bagwai Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State, Nigeria, during a National-Stop Transmission of Polio (N-STOP) posting for the National Supplemental Immunization Activity in that region.
Additional Information:
The N-STOP program is a refined and specialized offspring of two larger programs that train disease detectives: the (international) STOP program, and the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program. N-STOP is a key element in Nigeria’s effort to rid the country of this crippling disease.
