This image was captured when a team of Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) residents, were investigating an anthrax outbreak in Jiangsu Province, China, August 5, 2012. In this view, FETP team members, were in the process of interviewing villagers from Banlu Village, gathering, and recording data, which would ultimately lead to the origin of this anthrax outbreak. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise, so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally and prevented from spreading.
