Seated cross-legged with a group of schoolchildren, the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer depicted here, was in the process of conducting an immunization coverage survey in the Alwar District, Rajasthan, India, in October 2012. The acquisition of this survey data would enable public health field workers to focus their efforts on those geographic regions, which are most in need of disease prevention, vaccine medications, thereby, bringing such communities closer to a point that they can declare freedom from many vaccine-preventable diseases like polio, and tuberculosis. This image was captured by Indian Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) resident, Dr. Kayla Laserson.
