Clothed in his blue personal protective equipment (PPE), the chemist depicted in this 2013 photograph, was in the process of mixing a bleach solution in a blue-colored bottle, like the ones pictured in PHIL 18291 through 18293. This laboratorian worked for the non-governmental organization (NGO), Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi’s Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections (GHESKIO), in a lab on the GHESKIO grounds in Port-au-Prince. With Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) support, GHESKIO distributed bleach, as a way to fight cholera across Haiti.
