Captured 3-years after Haiti’s 2010 catastrophic, magnitude 7.0 earthquake, this image depicted a scene inside the cholera treatment center on the grounds of the Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections (GHESKIO) compound, located in Haiti’s capital, and largest city, Port-au-Prince. In this view, a woman receiving intravenous fluids, and dressed in a hospital gown, was lying in her cot, while being visited by a younger girl, who was seated in an adjacent chair, holding a baby. This compound acts as one of GHESKIO's many cholera treatment sites around Haiti. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides a wide range of support to GHESKIO in its efforts to fight future outbreaks of cholera in Haiti, and to treat those infected with the disease.
