This photograph depicted Pakistani Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) resident, Dr. Rehmat Ullah, who at the time, was conducting an outbreak investigation of scabies in the hilly region of Ashreeth, Chitral, Pakistan on February 15, 2014. Following reports of clusters of scabies cases in a nearby village, Dr. Ullah was called upon to conduct this outbreak assessment of the situation. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally and prevented from spreading.
