Captured between May and June 2014, during an investigation into an outbreak of a rash affecting newly recruited Mongolian soldiers, these Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) trainees, were in the process of conducting an epidemiologic investigation beginning with the completion of a trainee directed questionnaire recording responses from each soldier. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise, so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally, and prevented from spreading.
