This photomicrograph reveals typical histopathologic details exhibited by a bone marrow tissue sample indicative of pernicious anemia, a form of megaloblastic anemia, which is the result of an autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack gastric cells, resulting in impaired production of intrinsic factor that is critical in the absorption of vitamin B12.
