This gross pathology specimen represented the intestinal tract that had been excised during a canine necropsy. This animal had succumbed to a case of histoplasmosis, due to the fungal organism, Histoplasma capsulatum. Note the generalized lymphadenopathy, especially in the area of the mesenteric lymphatics.
