Entitled, “New NIOSH LED Cap Lamp”, this image was created by CDC Team Lead, Chad Hutson, Health Communications Team, Office of Mine Safety and Health Research, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This photo highlights the new LED cap lamp developed by researchers at the NIOSH Office of Mine Safety and Health Research. It was named a “Secretary’s Pick” winner, in the HHSinnovates Program. The lamp’s improved illumination will help reduce mining accidents resulting from trips, falls, and machinery, while also saving energy. This photo earned Chad the First Place award in the 2012 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “Domestic People and Programs”.
