Entitled, “People We Serve, Phnom Penh”, this image depicts a Cambodian family who lives near the nation’s Killing Fields. The photographer, Sureyya Hornston, MPH, PhD, with NCHHSTP, was on assignment for WHO-Western Pacific Regional Office in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, and stopped to interview the family in order to ascertain their knowledge on the topic of avian influenza. The photograph earned Dr. Hornston, the Third Place award in the 2007 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “International People”.
