Entitled, “Sophia’s Rotavirus Vaccine”, this image was created by CDC Public Health Advisor, Andre Berro. This is the photographer’s 6-month-old baby, Sophia, getting her rotavirus vaccine, as recommended by CDC. Our instinct, and responsibility as parents, is to protect our children against threats, including communicable diseases. We want them healthy and happy. Not afflicted with diseases that vaccinations could have prevented. This picture depicts the protection that parents extend to their children by having them vaccinated. This photo earned Andre the Second Place award in the 2014
Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “Domestic People and Programs”.
