Under a magnification of 240X, this photomicrograph revealed ultrastructural details exhibited by a ruptured cleistothecium, or ascocarp, as it was in the process of releasing its contents of ascospores. This particular fruiting body, belonged to the fungal organism, Pseudallescheria boydii, which was formerly known as Petriellidium boydii, and Allescheria boydii.
