Captured during January-February, 1975, this historic image depicts three Pakri townsfolk, atop a brick wall, in the process of observing Smallpox Eradication Team members, at work beneath, who were in the process of conducting an interview with family members of a smallpox patient. The image was taken in the village of Pakri, located in the West Champaran district inside the East India State of Bihar. The photograph was captured by a Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Bureau of State Services staff member, during one of the smallpox immunization-related trips to that region of the world.
