Under a magnification of 475X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the fungal organism, Penicillium janthinellum. In this particular view, you can see numerous simple, and branched conidiophores, topped with phialides, and their respective chains of conidia, one per each phialide, forming the characteristic, brush shaped cluster known as a penicillus.
