This image depicts a left lateral view of a guinea pig, revealing the presence of a lesion that had become denuded, and erythematous, exhibiting a crusty, eroded surface which was diagnosed as a case of dermatophytosis due to the fungal organism, Microsporum mentagrophytes. This fungal infection is more commonly known as ringworm.
