This 1976 high-powered, transmission electron microscopic (SEM) image reveals ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the mumps virus (MuV). In this instance, the virion had ruptured, allowing some of the nucleocapsid’s ribonucleoprotein (RNP) to escape on the right.
