This photograph was captured by one of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Environmental Health Scientists, Lindsey Horton, MPH, during Guinea’s 2014, Ebola outbreak. The Ebola response training was provided not just for those, who work in health care settings. In the Guinean town of Macenta, a special session was held for Red Cross volunteers, who work on burial teams, remove bodies from homes, and safely, and respectfully carry out the burials. Their personal protective equipment (PPE) was different from that of other health care workers, since the Ebola virus is at its most dangerous on the bodies of the deceased. Here, Guinean Professor Lamine Koivogui, was providing hands-on training to two volunteers.
