Captured during the necropsy of a deceased Rhesus monkey, Macaca mulatta, this image reveals the appearance of the animal’s intestinal mucosa in a case of colitis, due to Shigella sp. bacteria. Important here, is to take note of the presence of hemorrhagic, and edematous mesenteric lymph nodes.
