Caption:
Photographed in 1972, in the Serbian city of Duboka, formerly a part of Yugoslavia, this image depicted a young boy, who exhibited a number of white, crusty lesions on his scalp, which had been diagnosed as a case of dermatophytosis, more specifically referred to as trichophytosis, and was caused by an unidentified fungal organism of the genus, Trichophyton. Note how the lesions had become denuded of scalp hairs, one of the features of this fungal infection.
