This photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology that was exhibited by the dermatophytic fungus, Trichophyton violaceum. Grown in a thiamine-enriched broth, this specimen exhibited numerous, teardrop-shaped microconidia, which were individually branched perpendicularly from the filamentous mycelia.
