Viewed from a left lateral perspective, this x-ray revealed the presence of what turned out to be a spheroid shaped hydatid cyst, located within a patient’s thoracic cavity. A hydatid cyst is caused by the larval stages of cestodes (tapeworms) of the genus, Echinococcus.
