Captured during the autopsy of an infant, this image depicted the baby’s opened abdominal cavity, revealing its contents, specifically the intestinal tract. Of note, was the presence of subserosal (arrowhead) gaseous cysts, which led to a diagnosis of pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis (PCI), of an unidentified etiology.
