Each of these four test tubes was inoculated with a different species of the genus Trichophyton, which had all originated from cases of animal dermatophytic infections, more commonly known as ringworm. The growth medium on which these were cultured, was unidentified. From left to right the species included, T. mentagrophytes, T. equinum, T. verrucosum, and T. gallinae. Note the different colonial morphologies exhibited, each unique to each respective species.
