Clothed in his blue personal protective equipment (PPE), the chemist depicted in this 2013 photograph was in the process of recording data in a laboratory log book, which included pertinent information about the bleach solution he and his cohorts created in this sterile environment. The mixed solution would then use to fill the blue-colored bottles seen in PHIL 18291 through 18293. Laboratorians like this one work for the non-governmental organization (NGO) Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi’s Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infections (GHESKIO) in a lab on the GHESKIO grounds in Port-au-Prince. With CDC support, GHESKIO is distributing bleach as a way to fight cholera across Haiti.
