This 2012 photograph by Daniel Streicker, depicts a close view of a vampire bat that had been marked with metal identification bands on either of its wings, which are actually its webbed front legs. A recent study entitled, “Evidence of Rabies Virus Exposure among Humans in the Peruvian Amazon”, strongly suggested that vampire bats had been the source of rabies virus exposure, for two Amazon communities in Peru.
