Under a magnification of 4500X, this photomicrograph of a skin tissue sample highlighted a region in which a cluster of capillaries could be visualized. Note that these delicate vessels exhibited a circumferential vessel wall with a thickness of only a single epithelial cell. Within their lumens, you will note the presence of erythrocytes, or red blood cells (RBCs). See PHIL 17563, for a view of this section at a lower magnification.
