This photomicrograph of an iron-hematoxylin-stained specimen, revealed the presence of a parasitic, Entamoeba histolytica trophozoite. Note the distinct presence of a single, well-circumscribed nucleus containing peripherally located chromatin, and though difficult to see clearly in this focal plane, a slightly eccentrically situated karyosome.
