This photograph depicts a close dorsal view of the left hand of a one-week-old infant with a cutaneous rash, that was diagnosed as a case of erythema toxicum neonatorum. This rash had to be differentiated from that of staphylococcal pustulosis through the appropriate laboratory tests. Note the multiple papulopustular lesions dispersed over the baby’s skin.
