This transmission electron microscopic (TEM) image depicts some of the ultrastructural features exhibited by the gut cells of an Aedes triseriatus mosquito that was infected with the Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV). In this view, note the presence of numerous EEEV virions in various stages of development, from the precursor particles through the mature virus.
