This 1972 image depicted a close view of the great toes of a patient, who had presented with dry, crusty lesions of the feet, involving primarily the toes, and was diagnosed as a case of tinea pedis, but more precisely, tinea unguium, or a fungal infection of the toenails, due to an undisclosed dermatophytic fungal organism.
