This photomicrograph of an unknown tissue sample, revealed histopathologic changes caused by the filamentous fungal organism, Phialophora jeanselmei, also known as Exophiala jeanselmei, which had invaded this tissue in a patient living in what was formerly the country of Ceylon, which is now known as the island country of Sri Lanka.
