Caption:
This image depicts a close view of a female patient’s perineum, revealing the presence of a vaginal lesion, which after a diagnostic work-up, led to a diagnosis of condyloma lata, which was caused by the bacterial spirochete, Treponema pallidum. It is important to note that a dark field examination led to a positive result. In this case, the lesion was located within the vaginal introitus. The lesion appeared pustular, and appeared to include the perianal region of the perineum as well.
