Depicted here, was a pair of traditional Shimkent, Kazakhstan baby shoes that had been placed atop seat covers handmade in Almaty, Kazakhstan. These artifacts had been acquired by RPCV, Brian Bird, during his Kazakhstan Peace Corps Volunteer tour from 2000 – 2001.|
In honor of Peace Corps Week, from February 23rd-March 1st 2014 the Public Health Library and Information Center (PHLIC) hosted a display of artifacts from some of the over 200 Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) who are now employed at the CDC. The exhibit was supported by the CDC/ATSDR Peace Corps Work Group (proposed), and was designed to support the Third Goal of the Peace Corps, which strives to bring the culture of countries served back home to the United States.
