This is the ninth in a series of images, PHIL 16989 through 17013, depicting a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health Library and Information Center (PHLIC) exhibit entitled, Bringing the World Home: CDC’s Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) Celebrate Peace Corps Week 02/23/14 – 03/01/14. This wooden cowbell was acquired by RPCV, Vince Radke, during his 1970–1974 tour in Ethiopia’s largest southwestern city, Jimma. Appearing like a hat, this hemispherical bell was equipped with a hemp rope handle at its apex, and was marked by a carved midline zigzag pattern as well.
