Caption:
This perineal view of female patient’s vagina reveals an inflamed vaginal vestibule, and numbers of erythematous papules on the inner surface of the labia minora. Also, note the highly erythematous urinary meatus, as well as some purulent plaques in the vaginal introitus and fourchette. This was diagnosed as a case of herpes genitalis, but only after having ruled out gonorrhea as a possible cause.
