This laboratorian was in the process of inoculating a number of suckling mice with a mosquito suspension, created when pulverized mosquitoes, suspected of carrying a viral pathogen, are then added to a diluent. The suspension is then injected intracranially into the mice. Later the mouse brain tissue would be tested for the presence of the virus, using the indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) test, then observed under microscopic examination.
