Under a magnification of 125X, this fluorescent antibody (FA) stained, known positive sample, which had been rinsed in an isotonic phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution, revealed an expected positive result for an antinuclear factor (ANF) test, also referred to as antinuclear antibodies (ANAs). ANA detection, can be used in the diagnosis of some autoimmune disorders, whereupon, an individual’s own body begins to create these antibodies in order to attack itself.
