This image depicts a close view of a patient’s perineum, highlighting an abnormal perianal lesion, which at first, was thought to be due to a syphilis infection. After a careful differential diagnosis study, it was revealed that it had been caused by a histoplasmosis infection, due to the fungal organism, Histoplasma capsulatum.
