This image depicts a close view of a patient’s penis, highlighting an erosive, maculopapular rash, that was at the time, was thought to have been caused by a syphilis infection, but after performing a differential diagnostic study, proved to be a herpes progenitalis infection, caused by the HSV-2 virus, otherwise referred to as herpes simplex II.
